Wireless Recycling FAQs
Here you will find answers to some frequently asked questions about cellphone and wireless product recycling.
If you have a question which is not in this section, please contact us.
What kinds of toxins do cell phones contain?
Cell phones contain many toxic materials such as arsenic, mercury, lead, copper, zinc and brominated flame retardants which would be released into the air and groundwater supply if disposed of in landfills – creating threats to human and animal health as well as the environment.
What can I do to help?
Assist in safeguarding the environment and preventing this growing problem by selling or donating your old and unused cell phones for Recycling. This way, you will help keep toxic materials out of the landfill, and assist others.
How can my company or organization participate in Cellphone Recycling?
Companies and organizations can assist the recycling effort by promoting their cell phone collection to co-workers, customers, suppliers, friends and neighbors.
How can charities benefit from Cellphone Recycling?
Used cell phone collection enables charities to capitalize on the untapped disposal of all the old phones lying idle in homes and offices, and earn money this way for their fundraising program.
What happens to the phones that are sold or donated?
Many phones are donated to shelters for abused adults and children so they may have 911 (emergency only) communication. We also provide cell phones to medical patients who are awaiting organ transplants. In addition, some of the phones we receive are refurbished and redeployed in areas of the world where there are no land (wire) lines, or, where the cost of a new phone is prohibitive. Phones that cannot be refurbished or donated will be recycled and disposed of in an environmentally-responsible manner.
What types of phones do you accept?
We only accept the cell phones that are listed on our website, and provided they are in good usable condition.
