Is my phone classed as working or not working (selling to a recycling site)?

I have a mobile/cell phone that I’m planning on sending to one of those recycling sites.

It has a few scratches to the screen and bodywork, but no cracks or buttons missing. The last time I used it it did turn on and work, but the battery is now dead so I can’t test this right now (and I don’t have the charger anymore).

Is this phone classed as working or not working? Reading the guidlines as to what a “working” phone is, it says nothing about scratches or batteries. I don’t want to send the phone off as working and not recieve payment, but if I send it off as not working and I could have got a lot more for it…

I haven’t sold it on ebay or anything (I know you can generally get more money doing it this way) because I don’t have the cables, box, charger or anything, so it actually works out that I can get more money selling it to a recycling site.

Thanks!

Is there a “green” way to dispose of phone accessories?

With 4 years worth of cell phones between 3 people, all the old cords have built up. Two of the cell phones were defective so I can’t donate those chargers. Is there any way to recycle those items?
